Welcome to Mrs. Martin's
Third Grade Classroom

Dear Third Grade Parents and Students,

Welcome to Third Grade! I am excited to begin the school year and our educational journey together. On this website, you will find classroom information such as upcoming events, homework, the weekly poem, and contact information.

Social Studies

Last month, recognized the contributions, and major impact, Martin Luther King Jr. had in fighting for civil rights and equality for all. The class recited a five minute excerpt from Dr. King's famous, "I Have a Dream" speech, and learned about the impact Dr. King's speech had on this Nation.

The class had an opportunity to learn about the incredible life of a true trailblazer, Charles V Bush, from his daughter, Mrs. Bettina Bush. The class was able to ask questions, and take notes so they could complete a biography of Bush.

Language Arts

Your child is learning to be able to recognize, and label, parts of speech such as: verbs, adjectives, nouns, prepositions, articles, and  proper nouns. They have also learned how to identify prepositions, along with prepositional phrases.

We are continuing to strive to mastery level in the areas of punctuation and capitalization.

Reading

Your child has been assigned a book to read during reading groups. The books assigned was either Charlotte's Web, Pippi Longstocking, James and the Giant Peach, or Esparanza Rising. Once completed, they will write a summary, and create a diorama of their favorite scene of the book.

Kindly,

Mrs. Martin
